Shirakawa-go, in Gifu, Japan, is a fairytale village famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri (praying hands) farmhouses with steep thatched roofs. Located in the snowy Shogawa River valley, this picturesque village offers a glimpse into rural Japanese history, featuring well-preserved, nail-less architecture and stunning, seasonal landscapes.



In the morning we enjoyed a scenic drive through the mountainous Shokawa Valley to Shirakawa, a remote region of Japan that is home to unique Grassh-Zukuri style (joined Hands) thatched house that can be found only here.
